(Please scroll) ![]() KJ Films has put the finishing touches to its thought-provoking documentary “Shakespeare in the favelas” - during the summer Kieron Jones went to Brazil and worked with children and young people from the war-stricken favelas (shantytowns) and got them performing and enjoying Shakespeare. This documentary will feature as part of the news programme “Points West” on BBC1 later this term. ![]() Please click here for more information. KJ Films is producing a corporate film for a new charity that will improve the lives of thousands of people across the UK (watch this space!). KJ Films is also producing an album and souvenir DVD for the Male Voice Choir of Bath and a promotional film for the sensational singing group “The Stocking Tops”. PLUS we are visiting the Saints, Cougar Pride and West Bromwich Albion Study Centres with our popular Shakespeare workshops AND we return to Denmark with our successful English Language and Shakespeare workshops. Summer 2007 Summer is set to be hot, hot, hot as KJ Films continues to spread the words of the Bard across the UK and the world! We are showing our brilliant Shakespeare sessions to centre managers and LEA advisors at the DFES Playing for success ninth national conference in Stratford-upon-Avon. We are returning to Reading University to lead drama sessions at the NATE "Creativity in English" day and in August KJ Films will travel to Brazil to get students from the poorest areas of Vitoria enjoying the plays of Shakespeare. The Spring term had a busy start with BETT 2007 - "Another big success" with hundreds of teachers signing up to "Shakespeare Works! Kieron travelled all over the UK performing his Shakespeare workshops in primary and secondary schools - "Thanks again for the fantastic work you did at Wembley Primary School. The children are still talking about it!" Susan Biggar, Class teacher. The Autumn and Winter terms have seen KJ Films promoting Shakespeare Works! all over Europe and we are back at BETT 2007 - Come and say hello to stand SW62 and find out about our fab new Shakespeare workshops! The last few months have continued to be busy ones for KJ Films. Kieron has continued performing his one-man shows in Primary and Nursery schools across London for Freshwater Theatre – “This time of year it’s hot work being a Viking!” Kieron has also been up and down the UK promoting Shakespeare Works! the highlight being invited to Reading University by Professor Andy Goodwyn to do a presentation to the newly qualified English teachers. We produced a training video with Big Wheel Theatre for the NHS about doctor / patient relationships and we have just returned from Italy where we filmed the new music video for rising star Gamu. Very shortly you will be able to check out her song and video on her website - also designed by KJ Films and MEE3D. ![]() On 31st January Kieron took Shakespeare Works! to his old school Beechen Cliff in Bath. The whole of Year 7, 8 and 9 watched the film and took on the Shakespeare Challenge. The students enjoyed the whole experience - “It was really good and informative!” “I saw Shakespeare in a new light!” “The games and quizzes were great fun and I learnt a lot!” These were just a few of the comments from the questionnaires completed by the students. Kieron had a really nice time and the KJ Films team was made to feel very welcome. Thank you to the staff and students, especially Kieron’s old teachers; “It was great to see you all. I hope you enjoy Shakespeare Works! and look forward to seeing you all again!” said Kieron. After our success at BETT, Kieron and Dina traveled to Derbyshire to exhibit at the annual conference for the National Association of Teaching English on 21st January. SW! again got a great reaction and a big thank you to all the teachers, heads of English and LEA advisors who we met on that cold Saturday! The reaction from delegates was fantastic with many schools across the UK ordering SW! Trevor Millum, the former director general of NATE, was very enthusiastic so too was Professor Andy Goodwyn, the director of Teaching and Learning at Reading University. Kieron will travel to Reading University later this year to present SW! to 40 newly qualified English teachers. “This is a wonderful opportunity to encourage new ways of teaching Shakespeare and getting children excited about English and drama!” said Kieron. ![]() On Friday the 20th January SW! was premiered at the swanky screening room in the Soho Hotel. This was an opportunity for KJ Films to say a big thank you to all the friends and family who have supported Kieron over the past two years. We all had a fab night; everyone loved the film and really enjoyed the interactive presentation. ![]() Mal Meehan & Matt Jennings, developers of SW! interactive DVD. Mal Meehan of MEE3D showed off his skills playing Paparazzi, Dodge the Veg and Break the Spell on the big screen. The night was finished off at The Blue Post Pub. Kieron had to leave early however; he had to wake up at 5.30am the next day to drive to Derby for NATE! BETT 2006 was a huge success. A big thank you to everyone we met!
